Maren Morris isn’t looking for Mr. Right anytime soon.
Morris, who recently filed for divorce from country singer Ryan Hurd, opened up about her love life following the couple’s split during a Wednesday appearance on “The Howard Stern Show.”
The subject came up when Stern asked Morris about the mental health journey that inspired her recent hairstyle change of a short bob.
"I cut all the trauma out of my hair," Morris said. "I think this year has — for a lot of people, not just me — just a lot of people that are close to me have gone through it. I’ve known so many people that have gone through breakups or divorces."
Stern then asked Morris about her own divorce from Hurd. “The Bones” singer acknowledged that the legal process is “ongoing.”
After five years of marriage, Morris filed for divorce on Oct. 2, according to documents obtained by The (Nashville) Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network. The filing states the couple, who live in Nashville, has been separated since the early October date.
Morris requested a divorce due to the couple's "irreconcilable differences" and for being "unable to live together successfully as husband and wife," according to divorce complaints filed in Davidson County and obtained by The Tennessean.
The Grammy-winning country star told Stern she’s not looking to date amid her divorce, adding that her music has provided her an emotional outlet.
"I would like this to sort of wrap up," Morris said of her divorce. "I don't have the headspace for that yet. But I'm writing so much right now. That's kind of been my way of dating is just through song."
Morris met Hurd while writing Tim McGraw's 2014 track "Last Turn Home." They began dating in 2015 and married in 2018 in Nashville.
The country power couple welcomed their first child, 3-year-old Hayes Andrew Hurd, in 2020.
Morris took an online parenting seminar for divorcing parents, a court-approved parent education and family stabilization course, according to additional documents obtained by The Tennessean. The couple cannot move their child from their Tennessee home until the divorce is finalized – a standard protocol for divorce in Tennessee.
